Content Management

I can provide various solutions for clients who wish to maintain their own websites and require the use of a content management system (CMS).

Bespoke Solutions

If you feel that a fully featured system is too overwhelming and provides too many unnecessary features, I can provide a bespoke solution for you. Using PHP and a MySQL database, I can set up a CMS which lets you edit only those sections of the site which you are going to need to change, and leaves you free from worrying about large numbers of settings which you are never going to require. Content editing can be done using a "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) interface which should be simple to use for anyone familiar with Microsoft Word.

Full training in how to use the CMS can be provided as part of your overall website package.

Joomla!

Joomla! is one of the world's leading content management systems and the system I most frequently use to create and maintain websites. The Joomla! software can be configured to suit a wide variety of websites and can be further developed with the use of extensions which give even greater functionality. I am experienced in creating templates for Joomla! based websites from scratch, which ensure a unique look for your site and a structure which is adapted to your needs. The Joomla! CMS makes it simple for those with little or no experience of maintaining a website to keep their content up to date and to add more pages to their site if required. The system allows pages to be edited within the site itself or through a dedicated administration area, with the editing itself done through a WYSIWYG interface.

For a site built using the Joomla! CMS, I am able to provide training in how to use the system for those who wish to maintain the site themselves. This training will include the editing and updating of content and also how to add new content or new extensions to the site. The training time will be factored into the overall cost of providing the website.
